No Secrets Before God! (Matt:6:1-4)
Dearly beloved,
Hebrews 4:13, NLT: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
Congratulations and welcome to another time of study. Last week, Christians (all over the world)
Celebrated history’s most revolutionary event – the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We thank God for the love that mapped out salvation plan and the love that brought the plan down to earth. This week, I will like us to take a look at a topic titled: No Secrets before God.
In Matthew 6, Jesus calls us all to righteous giving. the Bible expatiates on the kind of charity that pleases God. Verses 1-4 sets out to proclaim the true lasting motivations for our daily pursuits of giving, praying, and fasting, and extends to other pursuits in the coming chapters (6:1-16).
On how we exhibit our piety before God and people while giving alms, the Bible explains that our motivations can either glorify God or become of hypocritical contempt to God, as well as ridicule and shame for the Church. In conclusive language, Jesus calls us to righteous giving which is giving to others in order to please God.
In other words, God does not expect us to seek to please ourselves, and certainly not others. This is because when we only seek the praise of others when we give alms to the needy, our giving becomes fuel for selfishness, and God is not glorified hence our only reward is momentary praise, while a much greater reward becomes lost due to our misplaced motivations.
According to Hebrews 4:13, the creator of the universe knows and sees ALL things. Nothing is hidden from God. He knows all your hidden thoughts and actions; including your motivations while giving and because he may not reward us twice, this week, I will like to encourage you to choose which reward we want, one from feeble temporary people, or one from the Great, Eternal God.
I pray for you today that you will choose right and only participate in the kind of charity that pleases God.
You are BLESSED!
